A Studio Session Close to the Heart – Welcoming My Best Friend’s Second Baby Boy

There are some sessions that stay with you — not just because of the images, but because of the connection behind them. Photographing my best friend’s second baby boy in the studio was one of those deeply special moments that I’ll always hold close.

Watching someone you love grow into motherhood — again — is something truly powerful. I’ve seen her become a mother for the first time, and now again for the second, with even more softness, strength, and calm. This little boy arrived into the world already so loved, not only by his family but by the village that surrounds them. To be the one to document these early days is something I don’t take lightly.

Our studio was filled with that quiet, sacred energy that only a newborn can bring. His tiny sighs, soft stretches, and the way he instinctively curled into his mama’s arms — it was all pure magic. With his older brother nearby, watching curiously and proudly, it was a beautiful reminder of how quickly life grows and shifts.

At Wylde Folk Studio, we don’t believe in overly posed setups or stiff styling. Our newborn sessions are slow, gentle, and baby-led. We allow plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, and nappy changes — no pressure, no rush. The goal is to capture your baby as they truly are, in a way that feels real and timeless.

There’s something so powerful about photographing newborns naturally. No heavy props or distractions — just soft light, natural textures, and honest moments. We focus on the little details: their wrinkled feet, flaky skin, sleepy lashes, and the way they fold perfectly into your arms. Because those are the things you’ll want to remember.

For this session, we kept everything beautifully simple — creamy linens, soft wraps, and the warm tones of skin-to-skin snuggles. The result? A collection of images that feel calm, connected, and truly personal.

Photographing a friend is always emotional. There’s an added layer of knowing — knowing the journey that led them here, knowing how deeply they love, and knowing how fleeting these newborn days really are. To freeze this chapter for her, for them, is the greatest gift I could offer.
