Preparing for 2022

There is nothing better than a fresh haircut, a holiday, or a new year to get you motivated.

I love preparing for the new year ahead. It’s an exciting time knowing that so much can happen in just 365 days, your whole life can look very different in 12 months time.

I thought what better than to share with you just some of my tips and tricks for bouncing into the New Year feeling exciting and organised. Not exactly photography related I know but it never hurts to change up the content.

  1. Write down a few things you are proud of from this year. It’s so lovely to reflect back before moving forward. As I am about to turn 30 I have realised I am so hard on myself and constantly pushing to achieve so much. It’s a wonderful trait to be motivated and have a strong work ethic but it’s also nice to just sit back a see just how far I have come. This year we sold our family home, the one my daughters spent their first years of life in. The home I spent long nights feeding them, where they took their first steps, watching them play in the backyard from the deck as they grew. It had so many beautiful memories for us. But we are so happy in our new home. It has plenty of room for the girls to grow. A beautiful studio space for my work and a stones throw away from our family. We couldn’t be happier it was a massive achievement for us as a family. One I never imagined we would achieve this year.

  2. Do a clean up - I mean it seems obvious but get stuck into those draws and throw out all the junk. Grab a box and all those kids painting and drawings from the year and pop them in a memory box. Nothing feels better than a clean and clear space. Have some fun and sage the home too - my girls love running around with the sage stick and clearing the energy for a new year.

  3. Book in those appointments for 2022, if you have haven’t got a recent dental, pap or skincare check get on the phone today and book that stuff in! It’s something I always dread doing but I feel so so good when it’s ticked off my list.

  4. Write down a few goals for 2022 - make them specific, realistic and measurable. Break them down into smaller goals if possible. Progress always feels good and I love a good goal. Tell your best friend or partner and let them help keep you accountable. This year I really want to focus on wearing sunscreen everyday, moving my body 4 times a week and growing Wylde folk even further.

  5. It really sucks to do but get your finances sorted. This is something I totally dread doing but writing down all your expenses can really help especially if you have some holiday goals in mind! Accounting is not my forte so I do enlist the help of a book keeper and accountant but it certainly helps to get your own head around these things too!

  6. Clean up your inbox- I am the inbox queen if I do say so myself! My inbox is filed into year- month- client name. Seeing a clear inbox at the end of the day honestly makes me heart feel so much at peace. It helps me ensure that I respond and action every email. Unsubscribe to mailing lists that don’t bring you joy!

  7. Book in your family photos for 2022! This is something I love to do between the Christmas and New Year period. It means I have plenty of time to 1. get the date I want and the time of year that suits my family 2. it allows me plenty of time to organise hair and make up appointments around the session, time to shop and plan outfits and time to budget for both my image and print packages I know I will want.
