Sunshine Coast Sunrise Family Session

As restrictions started to ease and travel beyond our suburbs was possible I decided we were well and truly overdue for a beach trip. My husband and I decided we would wake our daughters Summer (4) and Peaches (1) up at 4am and make our way from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast to enjoy the sunrise, something we hadn’t done together since New Years Day. As we drove up the highway it started pouring rain and my heart sunk. I being the determined photographer that I am put on my work hat and followed the BOM radar all the way up the coast- tracking the downpour. Sunrise was due at 6.20am so we didn’t have a lot of time to beat the rain but I could see if we travelled a little further from our original beach location we could skip the downpour. We ended up heading to Mooloolaba for the morning and the sunrise was well worth the trip. It was warm considering it was early June and beautiful pink tones filled the cloudy sky. The girls loved playing around on the beach admiring the sunrise over the horizon. Although these photos look effortless I will break it to you that within 5 minutes of arriving Peaches had landed head first into a wave and as much as I can laugh about it now I wasn’t too impressed at the time and neither was she. A quick outfit change ( yes I packed 3 spares) and she was back to her happy self chasing her sister around the rock pools. I adore these photos of my own little family. My hair is frizzy, the kids are mix matched and it was a little bit soggy but family photography is about togetherness and connection. Like life itself we had been thrown many curve balls that morning from rain to waves and everything in between when you have two young children but the main thing is we were together and when we are together everything is perfect.
